In brief ceremonies last September 12, 2011, General Santos City Mayor Darlene Antonino and Congressman Jun Acharon of the 1st District of South Cotabato joined SM Prime Holdings Mr. Hans Sy and SM City Davao’s Debbie Go in officially opening the widened and much-improved San Miguel Street which runs perpendicular to the soon to open SM City General Santos.
San Miguel Street is now a four-lane road with a center island planted with trees and serves as the link between Santiago Boulevard and Jose Catolico Sr. Avenue. Also being planned for construction across the SM City General Santos lot is a 150-room luxury hotel owned by the Teng Family.
A 52.5 million worth of drainage system is also undergoing construction along Santiago Boulevard up to the Lion’s Beach area of Sarangani Bay funded by the SM Group.
